These steps show how to run Windows 11 inside VirtualBox at full resolution (1080p / 4K) without installing Guest Additions. VirtualBox normally locks Windows 11 to VBoxSVGA, which restricts resolution to 1024×768 unless Guest Additions are installed. These steps unlock the graphics controller, enable VMSVGA, and add custom video modes while keeping the VM fully isolated for malware testing.
- Power off VM.
- Right-click VM and select "Discard saved state".
