Btrfs metadata corruption — investigation summary

Status: Root cause not established; corruption identified; no repair performed in this discussion.

Executive summary

btrfs scrub passed, but an offline btrfs check detected inconsistent filesystem metadata. An earlier kernel error occurred while unlinking parental-controls.page, aborted the Btrfs transaction, and forced the filesystem read-only. Subsequent investigation identified the affected directory and file in an OSTree deployment. The file's contents remain readable.
